Hi Jackal Community,
I’m Simon (Sich) from Orbital Alchemists. We have been validating the Jackal blockchain for about a year now.
I loved the idea of Jackal and decentralized storage when I first came across it, I prefer to see real utility rather than much of the DeFi scene.
Seeing Patrick and Marston step back was certainly a blow, though completely understandable given the tremendous effort and energy they have poured into the project over the years.
I’ll get straight to the point. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been digging through the codebases, particularly canined, mapping out a realistic upgrade path to bring the chain onto modern Cosmos SDK and CometBFT versions.
Because several validators and members have gone quiet, I want to check the pulse here first:
Is there still community interest and appetite to keep Jackal moving forward? Are validators and node operators around to coordinate on testnets and technical reviews? I have immense respect for everything Patrick, Marston, and the contributors have built here. My intention isn’t to step on any toes or push ahead blindly, but rather to help shoulder the open-source maintenance so the technology doesn’t fall behind.
Would you like to see a preliminary technical breakdown of the upgrade steps here for discussion?
Thanks All, Si
