If you’re reading this it is likely that you’re a friend or family member that I’ve sent this link to, however all are welcome to read along … But here I’d like to introduce what I’m trying to achieve and why.
I’ve spent my entire life deep in technology and I’ve been programming computers since I was a child. My career has been focused on providing software and technical solutions to banks, insurance companies and to an array of organisations through my various consultancy roles.
Technology is incredible but we face some huge challenges at this critical point in history. I don’t wish to patronise and I’m quite sure that most people understand the gravity of issues like AI. Even the dangers of AI have been discussed at length in the mainstream. However 99% of people will take no action to address them and who can blame them?
This is not about AI or mobilization of a task force but it is about the journey and the wider issues at play.
People who know me recognise that I often discuss the idea of decentralisation, although they may not understand why it’s such a passion and now a driving force behind a lot of what I do.
Trying to correct some of the misunderstanding of blockchain, crypto and decentralisation was the motivation behind my YouTube channel and Orbital Alchemists. I thought, if I could just transplant some of the ideas from my head people might just understand that crypto is far more than the greed, “get rich quick” schemes, fraud and terrorist financing that the mainstream media would have people believe.
Starting down this rabbit hole is a journey towards the roots and ethos behind Decentralisation, why it’s needed now more than ever and why it might just create a fairer society whilst quietly saving us from a dystopian, authoritarian future.
The starting point for this journey is to understand the scope of the problem, what it includes and how humanity has actually been here before many times. The issue; a human’s need to control their environment with no boundaries, is the same each cycle with only the scale having changed over time. This cycle, technology both exacerbates the problem but also provides the solutions.
I genuinely hope that my technology experience may provide some useful insights if nothing more, however Orbital Alchemists is my attempt to both educate and entertain whilst providing tangible resources from software to infrastructure.
