If you’re reading this, you’re likely a friend or family member I’ve shared this with—though anyone is welcome to follow along.

I wanted to take a moment to share what I’m building, and why.

I’ve spent my entire life deep in technology and I’ve been programming computers since I was a child. My career has been focused on providing software and technical solutions to banks, insurance companies and to an array of organisations through my various consultancy roles.

Technology is incredible, but we face huge challenges at this moment in history. Most people already grasp the gravity of issues like runaway AI—it’s discussed everywhere in mainstream media. Yet 99% of us take no action, and honestly, who can blame us?

This is not about AI or mobilization of a task force but it is about the journey and the wider issues at play.

Anyone who knows me knows I talk constantly about decentralisation, even if it hasn’t always been clear why it’s become such a driving passion for me.

Why decentralisation matters to me

Trying to correct some of the misunderstanding of blockchain, crypto and decentralisation was the motivation behind my YouTube channel and Orbital Alchemists. I thought, if I could only transplant what’s in my head, people might see that decentralisation is far more than the greed, get-rich-quick schemes, and sensational headlines portrayed in the media.

Starting down this rabbit hole is a journey towards the roots and ethos behind Decentralisation, why it’s needed now more than ever and why it might just create a fairer society whilst quietly saving us from a dystopian, authoritarian future.

The starting point for this journey is to understand the scope of the problem, what it includes and how humanity has actually been here before many times. The core issue—humanity’s urge to control its environment without boundaries—remains the same every cycle. Only the scale has changed.

This cycle, technology both exacerbates the problem but also provides the solutions.

Much of this comes down to the shift from Web2—the centralised internet of corporate walled gardens, platform lock-in, and extracted personal data—toward Web3 and truly peer-to-peer systems. If those terms sound like buzzwords or jargon right now, don’t worry. Part of my goal here is to strip away the noise and explain clearly, piece by piece, what they actually mean for your everyday digital life and autonomy.

The journey ahead

There are no silver bullets, and the scale of what needs building is substantial. But real, viable solutions do exist—not in abstract theories, but in practical tools designed to return control and ownership to individuals.

That is precisely what I’m doing with Orbital Alchemists.

We aren’t just critiquing the status quo; we are actively designing the software, infrastructure, and resources to navigate what’s next. You don’t need an engineering degree or a deep background in cryptography to understand this transition. Our aim is to demystify the technology, walk you through each step, and make sure no one gets left behind.

The road ahead is big, but it doesn’t have to be daunting.

Please consider joining me for the journey …
